At Franklin Preschool, our understanding of developmentally appropriate practices tells us that applying and interviewing for classroom and school-wide leadership roles can be difficult for the differentiated needs of our students. However, we want to give every student a chance to participate in a leadership roles, therefore roles are assigned by rotating roles inside and outside the classroom. This helps provide students with exposure to a variety of opportunities to learn and decide what their interests are for their future endeavors. Some examples of student leadership roles include:
Students leading the Learning Walk tours
Students leading during Family Nights (door greeter, sign-in assistant, snack helper)
Student jobs throughout the school (butterfly garden worker, arrival assistant, , etc.
Classroom jobs (electrician, line leader, caboose, gardener, weather person, veterinarian, etc.)
