6.2 - Student-Led Conferences

To showcase student learning, MMS hosts two formal Student-Led Conference events, one in the fall and one in the spring. These conferences have been a part of the culture at MMS for many years; however, the Leader in Me framework has added a more strengths-based focus to our practice. We are continually working to improve the student-led conference experience for our students and their families. This fall, for example, we provided an electronic survey to our families to find out what they thought of the conferences, the glows, the grows, and everything in between. We were then able to use this information to help prepare for our upcoming spring conference event. In addition, we are working toward being more systematic in our processes, including providing more teacher scaffolding and scheduling designated days for students to practice sharing their Leadership Portfolio with a peer.
